Description
For centuries, clocktowers have heralded more than just the passage of time. On town squares, train stations, churches and schools, round clocks on tall structures have been civic markers, and often located at threshold spaces – starting points for physical, spiritual, and personal journeys.
A red framed structure stands around the lifeguard station, clad in simple ornamental flourishes. Impactful colours are drawn from the gradients of the dawn sky – deep blue, hazy white, golden yellow, sky blue. The four sides of the tower have large circular openings but instead of a clock, the tower houses a yellow sun disk. Visitors are invited to mark and create their own moments of change by raising and lowering this sun, using a rope and pulley system referencing the ringing of bells to mark key events.
